Acting Jakarta Governor, Teguh Setyabudi monitored the Cipinang Rice Information Center (PIBC) owned by Pt Food Station Tjipinang Jaya, in East Jakarta, Monday (10/21).

 to realize food security

Teguh wanted to ensure that food prices remained stable and stock availability is sufficient ahead of the Jakarta Regional Head Election (Pilkada) and the National Religious Holidays (HBKN) of Christmas and New Year 2025 (Nataru).

"I visited the PIBC Food Station as an effort to realize food security, control inflation, and stabilize food prices in Jakarta. The visit is also to ensure that food prices do not burden the community, especially ahead of the Pilkada and Nataru," Teguh said, as quoted from Jakarta Provincial Government's press release.

Jakarta Inflation in August 2024 Records 1.98 Percent

Currently, the rice needs of Jakarta people reach 2,686 tons per day or 80,594 tons per month. Approaching Nataru 2025, the need for rice is estimated to increase by 3.43 percent to 2,767 tons per day or 83,361 tons per month.

"We have taken anticipatory steps to ensure the availability of rice in sufficient condition during Christmas and New Year and until the end of this year. Those are fulfilling warehouse capacity and strengthening inter-regional cooperation on a Business to Business (B to B) basis with rice producers in various regions, as well as maintaining the stability of rice supply together with Perum Bulog Regional Division (Divre) Jakarta Banten.

In order to increase revenue, Teguh hopes, food sector BUMDs to be able to expand and innovate the company's commercial activities through digital platforms, as well as optimize all company assets and resources in 2025.

Teguh also hopes that BUMD can carry out burden efficiency Commodity Cost Price through effective supply chain integration, increase the market share of food's BUMD in Jakarta and nationally, and improve product quality and quality control according to food eligibility standards.

Furthermore, also strive for business diversification, both vertical and horizontal, to optimize revenue performance and continue to strengthen synergy with BUMD, Regional Apparatus, Ministries/Institutions, and inter-regional cooperation in order to realize food security.
